MagiRobo is a personal blog run by Andy Hopkinson. When this page says "we" or "us," it means MagiRobo. "You" means whoever is reading it.
What MagiRobo is
MagiRobo publishes writing about games, comics, technology, television, film, and animation. That includes reviews, opinion, and analysis. Everything here is provided for general information and entertainment. It is not professional advice of any kind, and you should not treat it as such.
Using the site
You are welcome to read, link to, quote briefly with credit, and share MagiRobo. What you may not do:
- Copy or republish whole posts anywhere else without written permission
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk download the site in ways that burden the server
- Use the content to train commercial machine learning models without written permission
- Break into, interfere with, or attempt to disrupt the site or its hosting
- Use MagiRobo for anything unlawful, or to harass or harm anyone
- Pretend to be MagiRobo, one of its writers, or someone you are not
Who owns what
Unless a post says otherwise, the writing, layout, code, logos, and original artwork on MagiRobo belong to MagiRobo or the individual writer who created them, and are protected by copyright.
Cover art, screenshots, promotional images, box art, and similar material belong to the publishers, studios, and creators who made them. They appear here under fair use, for the purpose of commentary, criticism, and reporting. If you own material used here and want it credited differently or taken down, get in touch through the Contact page and we will sort it out quickly.
Want to reuse something? Ask. The answer is usually yes.
Comments and anything else you post
If comments are switched on, you are responsible for what you write. Keep it civil. Do not post anything unlawful, hateful, threatening, defamatory, deliberately misleading, or that infringes someone else's rights. No spam, no undisclosed promotion, no impersonation.
We can edit, hide, or delete any comment, and block any account, for any reason and without notice. We are not obliged to moderate, and comments left by readers are their views, not ours.
Anything you post gives us permission to display it on the site, keep it there, and quote it. You keep ownership of your own words.
Affiliate links and sponsored content
Some posts contain affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, MagiRobo may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Posts containing affiliate links carry a visible notice, and MagiRobo takes part in the Amazon Associates program and may join others over time.
Sponsored posts, gifted review items, and press copies are always labelled as such. None of it buys a better review score or a softer opinion. Where a piece was made possible by someone else, the post says so.
Advertising
MagiRobo may show ads from third-party networks, including Google AdSense. We do not control which specific ads appear, and showing an ad is not an endorsement of the advertiser. Anything you buy from an advertiser is between you and them.
Links to other sites
MagiRobo links out to other websites. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content, their accuracy, or their privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement. Once you leave MagiRobo, the other site's terms apply.
The newsletter
The newsletter is optional and you can unsubscribe from any email. We may change what the newsletter covers or how often it goes out, and we may stop sending it entirely.
Accuracy, and the fact that we get things wrong sometimes
We work to get things right, but MagiRobo is written by people. Posts can contain errors, and older posts can go out of date as games get patched, shows get recut, and products get replaced. Nothing here is promised to be complete, current, or correct.
Spotted a mistake? Tell us on the Contact page. Corrections go to the front of the queue and get noted on the post.
No warranty
MagiRobo is provided as it is, and as it happens to be available. We do not promise the site will be uninterrupted, error free, secure, or free of anything harmful, and we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied, to the fullest extent the law allows.
Limits on liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, MagiRobo and anyone writing for it are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site or anything you found on it. That includes lost data, lost profits, and anything you bought based on something you read here. Some places do not allow these limits to be excluded, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Privacy
How your data is handled is covered separately on the Privacy Policy page, which forms part of these terms.
Children
MagiRobo is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes to these terms
We may update this page as the site changes. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Carrying on using MagiRobo after an update means you accept the updated terms.
Ending access
We can restrict or block access to MagiRobo at any time, for any reason, without notice.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah in the United States, without regard to conflict of law rules.
