Some games hand you a manual. This one hands you a locked door and walks away. For fifteen hours I resented it. Then it clicked, and the resentment turned into something close to awe.

The tutorial that never comes

Withholding information is a design choice, not an oversight. When a game trusts you to figure it out, the figuring out becomes the game.

Why it stuck with me

The best lessons are the ones you teach yourself. This is a game built entirely around that idea, and it is braver than almost anything around it.
