'Fallout' Season 1 Finally Gets the Tone Right

Most game adaptations fail because they are embarrassed by the thing they are adapting. This one is not. It leans all the way into the vault suits and the gallows humor, and it is better for the confidence.
Tone is everything
The wasteland has always been funny in a way that hurts. The show understands that better than I expected, and the moments it lands stay with you.
The verdict
Messy, gory, and a lot of fun. The first adaptation in a long while that feels made by people who actually played the games.
