The Steam Deck Made Me a Worse, Happier Gamer
Portable power changed not what I play, but how, and the math of my backlog along with it.
I am demonstrably worse at games on the Deck. I play them lying down, half asleep, one thumb on the trackpad. I have also never been happier with the hobby.
The backlog math changed
Games I would never have booted up on a big screen suddenly fit into the cracks of a normal day. The bar to start dropped, and so did the guilt.
What it actually changed
Not the library. The relationship. That turns out to be the more important upgrade.
